Updating mobile apps

Update Watcher from the store and app listing you use: Google Play or App Store. For a branded app, use your operator's link.

Update availability is determined by the store and the selected app listing. Different brands may have different versions. The Watcher server version cannot determine the update rollout percentage or when it will appear on a particular device.

If updating the app on your phone, start with preparation. If releasing your own branded app, use the operator procedure.

Before updating

Watcher Android 26.10.01 requires Android 9 or later; Watcher iOS 26.10.02 requires iOS 15 or later. Separately check installation availability for the specific package and video operation on the device; branded app requirements may differ.

  1. Record the app and Watcher server versions.
  2. Check that you have your username, password and Operator ID or server address for the sign-in method in use.
  3. Check that your email or another provided account recovery method is accessible.
  4. If the server has not been updated for a long time, first arrange its update with the administrator. For a working service, test the new app version with one test account and device before a mass transition.

Do not uninstall the app as a required update step: reinstalling may require signing in again and restoring local settings.

Updating the app

  1. Open the installed app's store listing.
  2. Tap Update if a new version is available.
  3. Launch the app and sign in again if necessary.
  4. Check the camera list, live video, archive and required events.
  5. Check notification permission in the phone settings if you use push notifications.

Automatic updates depend on store and device settings. If there is no update button, check that you opened the correct listing and selected the required store account.

If the server needs updating

The server version is available in the Watcher web interface. An administrator updates the server using the update and rollback instructions.

Backup contents depend on the installation generation. Do not apply commands for old file databases to a modern PostgreSQL installation. Before updating, save data and configuration following the instructions for your version. For an old installation with an unknown migration path, contact support with the current version and deployment description.

A PWA has no separate store update: the server web interface is updated. After a server update, reopen the PWA; if the interface has not updated, close it and sign in again through the browser.

If access is lost after updating

Check the server address or Operator ID, username and password. Compare app sign-in with web interface sign-in using the same account.

If web sign-in works but mobile sign-in does not, provide the administrator with the app, phone OS and Watcher versions, the sign-in method and exact error text. If the camera list opens but video does not play, perform the connection check. For missing notifications, use the separate check.

Do not share passwords, access tokens or sign-in QR codes in public discussions. See Mobile apps for sign-in methods.

Releasing a branded app update

The operator obtains its branded update through Flussonic technical support. Provide the Operator ID, platform, published listing links and current version. If a store notice requires the update, attach its full text. Obtain confirmation of the build prepared for your brand and store.

  1. Obtain a test build or testing link from support. Check sign-in, video, archive and notifications with your test account, as well as branding and languages.
  2. Confirm the result and obtain the final Android file or arrange submission of the final iOS build to App Store Connect.
  3. Release the update in the existing app listing using the publication procedure. If the store rejects the file, send support the rejection text and build number.
  4. Once the update appears, test updating over the previous version on a test phone. Then notify users that the update is available and provide your brand's listing link.

Updating the Watcher server or releasing the standard Watcher app does not establish that your brand's new version is already published. If your brand's listing has no Update button, check its release status in the store console.
