MSS

media.play.mss

Transport

HTTP or HTTPS; playlists and fragments use separate requests over TCP.

Supported codecs

Video

  • H.264

Audio

  • AAC-LC

This list describes Sapsan output; decoding support depends on the player. Tracks also need valid codec parameters for packaging in the selected container.

Configuration

Sapsan serves Microsoft Smooth Streaming for live streams and archives through the HTTP listener. MSS has no separate port.

Playback URLs

Mode URL
Live http://server/streaming/v/cam1/mss/Manifest
Archive http://server/streaming/v/cam1/mss/archive/1651829645-120/Manifest

The archive address contains a start in Unix seconds and a duration in seconds; DVR recording is required. Players request fragment addresses from the manifest. filter.tracks=a1 selects the first audio track; filter.tracks=v1 selects the first video track. Pass a playback token as ?token=<token>; it is included in fragment URLs.

Tracks need a positive bitrate. The basic H.264/AAC-LC profile is supported; unsupported tracks are omitted. The .isml rewind form is unsupported.
