SSAI¶

Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI) replaces main stream segments with advertisements on the server. Ads can be selected per session using viewer authorization data. Insertion is triggered by a schedule or SCTE markers.

Ads are transcoded in advance to match the main stream output profiles. The server builds a manifest for the session, and the player receives content and ads through the same delivery mechanism. A personalized manifest must not be cached as shared by all viewers.
