Episode management

media.episodes.management

An episode links an event to a stream and a video timestamp. media.episodes.management covers episode management, storage and access; it is an existing per-stream tariff-grid feature.

Central stores the latest episode state and its images in PostgreSQL. The harvester receives updates from streamers; the management API reads retained history, so the source streamer need not be available. Source payload and external annotations in meta are stored separately.

Reading

GET /central/api-v4/episodes returns a combined selection; GET /central/api-v4/episodes/{episode_id} reads one episode. Stream, type and time filters combine with the JSON meta filter. Follow next_cursor; the default limit is 100 and the maximum is 1000. Offset is forbidden.

Viewer access uses /playback/v/{stream_name}/episodes on central and /streaming/v/{stream_name}/episodes on a streamer. Central serves retained history; a streamer serves its current in-memory window. The stream’s usual permissions and play tokens apply. Reading episodes and images does not create or refresh a viewing session.

For creation, meta updates and search examples, see the Optic manual. Retention is described in Episode archive.
