DASH validator¶
media.probe.dash_validator
The validator checks an MPD and fetches init and media segments. It detects ABR track misalignment, timeline errors, and audio/video live-edge drift.
The validator and dash-validate diagnostic utilities are distributed separately from the server. These examples assume the relevant binary is installed and available in PATH.
Modes¶
- auto — Automatic: detect the mode from
MPD@type. - --static — Validate a static VOD presentation once.
- --live — Refresh a dynamic MPD during the capture window, checking SegmentTimeline updates for gaps and overlaps.
Run¶
dash-validate --live --capture 30 http://server:5080/streaming/v/tv1/Manifest.mpd
Options¶
| Option | Purpose | Default |

Result¶
The report lists errors and warnings with their locations. Exit code 0 means validation passed, including warnings only; 1 indicates validation or startup errors; 2 indicates invalid CLI arguments. Durations are in seconds and accept positive fractional numbers.
