Release Notes 23.02
We are delighted to introduce the new 23.02 version of Flussonic Media Server!
This iteration is centered on addressing clients’ feedback and streamlining essential business requirements, with the aim of enhancing end-user productivity.
For those using Flussonic Media Server for the first time as a solution for OTT/IPTV services, event broadcasting, or UGC business, this update offers a multitude of configuration and integration options. It also provides an improved user experience and optimized functionalities that help reduce time-to-market.
Flussonic Media Server 23.02 has introduced better management and configuration features, targeting diverse kinds of users. The API is now documented in OpenAPI schema, including config_external which is crucial for custom development, integration with code-based solutions and backend configuration. Additionally, the web-interface has been upgraded and personal accounts can now be accessed via my2.flussonic.com.
Moreover, the new release expands support for various video formats in browsers, DVR and WebRTC have been improved and CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing) stream authorization comes built-in—eliminating the need for external platforms like NGINX.

CORS stream authorization
In this new version, Flussonic has added authorization for Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) for the browser streams, removing the need for a third-party solution. During playback, Flussonic creates the necessary headers for the browser that allow secure access to streams complying with the security policies of your service.
H.265 support in browsers
The latest update from Flussonic brings enhanced support for playing H.265 files across many browsers. For added detail, please review the documentation.
We are pleased to announce that the OpenAPI scheme for Flussonic API is now finalized. To ensure our customers have ample time to update their systems and applications, an “end of life” option has been implemented, allowing them to be informed about when and in which releases deprecated API functions will be removed.
Furthermore, we have documented the config_external feature, which is used to create the external configuration backend of Flussonic Media Server. This can be accessed via https://flussonic.com/doc/api/config-external/, and we highly encourage our customers who require external media server orchestration to test it out using OpenAPI for best results.
In the latest release, the web-interface has been completely migrated to API V3. Running on a public API structure, all of the features found on the web-interface can be altogether executed through the API. The web-interface now introduces more user-friendly diagrams and process visualizations, such as disc space usage charts and DVR replication processes for each stream. Additionally, it is integrated with an internal support system to allow customers to submit support tickets directly from the web-interface.
Flussonic Media Server has been continually updated to create a better experience for its users. Improved collaboration tools, for managing colleagues, have been added to corporate accounts, and individual accounts have been granted the ability to add payment details. Additionally, the password recovery feature is now functional and users can easily opt out of newsletters.
We have upgraded the DVR player with a UTC timeline for archived video, which is essential for companies operating in various time zones. The DVR archive index has been streamlined to include only the necessary information for streamlined archiving. Additionally, the new version of the DVR player displays recording status on the timeline without lags or delays.
The new release supports dynamic handling of a changing source track set at WebRTC ABR playback. The play session now closes when media info significantly changes, for example when the order or number of tracks or essential track parameters are changed. The new release also enables password protection of publications in WebRTC.
The latest version of the transcoder includes a seamless mode that is now always enabled by default and cannot be disabled. When losing a source the transcoder seamlessly switches to another source without dropping frames.
