23.06 Watcher
We are delighted to announce the release of Flussonic Watcher 23.06! This latest version introduces a range of exciting new features and enhancements. All infrastructure management functions have been migrated to Flussonic Central, ensuring that Watcher is now completely separated from infrastructure knowledge, Media Server’s launcher, streamer management and focused on business logic. Watcher is now fully optimized for Kubernetes, supports HEVC in the Watcher UI, expands its license plate recognition capabilities to include more formats, and offers improved DVR configuration options.
Watcher's Separation from Streamer and Cluster Management
This release represents a significant milestone for Watcher, as it introduces enhanced independence from streamer management, cluster dependencies, and infrastructure knowledge. All infrastructure knowledge is now centralized in Central, eliminating the need for Media Server’s launcher and streamer management. Watcher VMS can now run independently with its own systemd unit.
License Plate Recognition
This update brings exciting new features to the video analytics modules, particularly in license plate recognition. Users can now benefit from advanced recognition capabilities, allowing Watcher to identify license plates from Kazakhstan and Bulgaria, as well as square-shaped license plates with multiple lines of symbols.
HEVC Support in the Watcher User Interface
The latest release introduces enhanced HEVC support within the Watcher User Interface, allowing you to seamlessly stream HEVC content from cameras directly in your browser. Our team has focused on improving the functionality of the live player specifically for handling HEVC (H.265) format streams. Previously, some customers experienced misleading errors when attempting to view H.265 streams in Chrome. We have dedicated our efforts to addressing these issues, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted playback experience of H.265 video streams from cameras within the Watcher UI.
Kubernetes-Ready
In addition, Watcher VMS now supports Docker containers, simplifying deployment and scalability. This enhancement sets the stage for future deployments in Kubernetes, providing even greater flexibility and efficiency in system management.
DVR Configuration
This release also includes significant improvements to the DVR configuration mechanism in Watcher VMS. Watcher now consistently sets dvr.reference=‘central’ in Flussonic Central, while further configuration can be performed on the streamers. If you require assistance with configuring DVR on your streamers, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our technical support team. Additionally, event handling for DVR and sources has been removed from Watcher VMS.
