24.12 Media Server
In the December release, we have introduced updates that accelerate content delivery and simplify streaming management. For those who have already upgraded to version 24.12, we offer a unique opportunity — a test report on TR 101 290 parameters to assess the quality of incoming streams. In the future, this will become part of a new Flussonic product.
Below, we provide more details about this opportunity and the updates in Media Server 24.12.
Reduce Source Errors Tenfold with Advanced Monitoring
Advanced monitoring is part of a new product currently under development by the Flussonic team. For Media Server 24.12 customers, we offer a test monitoring report to assess the quality of incoming streams, identify errors, and resolve them. To learn the conditions and request the report, contact your manager or email us at support@flussonic.com.
To create the report, we use more than 30 counters that analyze the state of MPEG-TS and detect errors at both the transport and content levels. Using this information, one of our test clients reduced stream errors by nearly 100 times.
Share the report with your content partners, as frequent errors often originate in incoming streams. By identifying and fixing source issues, you save resources typically spent on repeated incident resolution.
Currently, we offer the test report format to a limited number of customers. Contact us to check the availability of this offer.
Play HEVC on Any Devices
Some devices play videos with modern codecs (HEVC, AV1) only when delivered in an fMP4 container. For example, Apple devices cannot play HEVC videos delivered via a standard MPEG-TS.
To simplify codec switching, in this new release, Flussonic automates handling for HEVC and H.264. Now, when Flussonic detects HEVC, AV1, or the OPUS audio codec, it automatically repackages them into fMP4 by default.
If this is not required, disable fMP4 manually by specifying a playlist link with the MPEG-TS container: index.ts.m3u8
. For H.264 streams, nothing changes — they are still sent in MPEG-TS.
Launch LL-HLS Streams with Lower Latency
Flussonic now packs video and the first audio track for LL-HLS into a single chunk segment. This reduces latency in such streams by 1 second.
Export MP4 in the Background
Exporting DVR content to MP4 often takes longer due to overloaded or slow storage. To accelerate this process, we added the ability to start background export operations via the API with dvr_export_job_start. With the Flussonic update, you can create a task and schedule the export at your convenience.
Monitor Storage Capacity with Extended Metrics
The dvr_get operation now includes additional fields that display the state of the storage. You can now retrieve the total storage bytes, occupied bytes, the percentage of used space, and the number of blobs across all disks.
Enjoy the Improved Version of Flussonic
This release also includes bug fixes, enhanced security, and improved service usability. Update Media Server and take full advantage of Flussonic without limitations!
