Flussonic and Streamlabs have just announced that they have worked together to create a digital cable and OTT TV headend solution by combining their products, Stream Labs MediaEncoder, Stream Labs MultiPlex and Flussonic Media Server, into a single software and hardware complex.

The solution has been successfully implemented at FlyNet, one of the largest network operators in Moldova, which offers cable TV, Internet TV, data transmission, telephony and other services.

“The joint StreamLabs and Flussonic solution is an excellent tool for building a reliable streaming base. We are satisfied with both the solution and the service of our partners, as well as their support and assistance in modernizing the network”, announced FlyNet founder Oleg Dudko.

FlyNet has decided to update its technical means of formation of television signals to create new services such as digital cable television for customers of cable networks and OTT for Internet users. Streamlabs and Flussonic have been selected as modernization artists, having competence and years of experience in digital television and OTT development.

FlyNet

The solution implemented for FlyNet is designed to work under heavy loads 24/7. Signals are generated for 200 television channels from 100,000 simultaneous OTT subscriber connections.

The solution created for FlyNet consists of the following functional blocks:

Receiving Unit. Based on Multi Encoder software developed by Stream Labs, the unit receives and decodes MPEG-TS transport streams. Decoded streams are output using Stream Labs MH3G 4-channel Input/Output cards.

Compression Unit. Based on MultiEncoder, it supports standard and high definition video compression with constant and variable bitrates. Uncompressed signals are input using Stream Labs MH4GTX boards.

Multiplex Unit. Based on the Stream Labs MultiPlex solution, the unit implements the formation of multi-program and single-program transport streams for modulators and OTT servers. It forms PSI / SI, electronic program guide, etc.

T2-MI De-encapsulation Unit. The distinctive feature of this solution is the ability to use T2-MI transport streams as sources. T2-MI is used in terrestrial digital television networks for multichannel service transmission. The T2-MI de-encapsulation unit receives the streams and de-encapsulates the MPEG-TS transport streams, which are processed by the receiving unit. The block uses the Stream Labs MultiPlex product.

OTT Head Station. The Flussonic Media Server solution is used as the OTT head station. The solution provides support for broadcasting in MPEG-DASH, HLS, MSS formats with high loads (hundreds of thousands of simultaneous connections). In addition to the regular OTT server functions, Flussonic Media Server provides:

  • Integration with major DRM: Widevine, PlayReady, FairPlay;
  • Digital Recorder (DVR) function support;
  • Inputs reservation, DVR records replication;
  • High fault tolerance using the Erlang language and watch dog;
  • Seamless joint in the event of using a backup.

Stream Labs and Flussonic would like to take this opportunity to thank their friends and partners at FlyNet for their trust and wish them success in the television business using modern technologies.

“We are grateful to work with Flussonic. It is a pleasure doing business with a company that cares about being modern and providing its customers with an exceptional service experience. Work was as smooth as possible in a business as challenging as digital services. At Stream Labs, we are proud of our project and the products it offers", adds Stream Labs Sales Director Alexey Mayorov.
