Catena — one product for IPTV
Television that runs on your network
Today we are opening Catena to everyone. It is one product for IPTV: a TV platform for operators that ingests channels from your headend, transcodes them, records the archive, and delivers television to set-top boxes, phones and Smart TVs — with subscriber packages, EPG and billing integration. On your own hardware, fully under your control.

From one server to a cluster
The smallest installation is a single Ubuntu machine, and it takes exactly one
command: apt install catena. You get the control plane (central), a local
streamer, and a provisioned PostgreSQL — from bare OS to a playing channel
in minutes (quickstart).
Growth means adding machines, not rebuilding what you have. New streamers join the cluster through a join window in the UI, and the layouter spreads channels across them automatically — predictably, with recorded reasons for every move.
Kill the control plane. The air stays on.
Catena is built around one promise: a management outage is never an on-air outage. If central dies, channels keep broadcasting, DVR keeps recording, and viewers keep watching (how it works). When central returns, the cluster knits itself back together — zero restarts. Inputs fail over between sources carefully, without flapping (input failover).
And it is dense: a single streamer delivers up to 100 Gbit/s of video.
For long-time Flussonic Media Server users
A special word for those who have been running Flussonic Media Server for years: Catena is a great offer for you. We will convert your FMS licenses into Catena licenses — write to us and we will work out the terms for your installation.
Try it right now
We are inviting everyone to try Catena today:
- Read what it is and how it works on the Catena page.
- Install it on one server with the quickstart — the manual covers everything from DVR to cluster upgrades.
- Moving from DVB-C cable, or running an OTT service? We have a Cable→IPTV path and an OTT scenario.
- Or just talk to our engineers — tell us your channel list and subscriber count, and we will lay out a pilot region together.
