The latest release brings exciting updates for professionals in the TV and VoD industries. Leverage dynamic ad targeting, experiment with capturing ST 2110 sources, process more SRT streams, and ensure a smooth transition to BuyDRM’s new API. Dynamic Ad Targeting by Program ID

Some broadcasters provide advertising slots at different times for various user groups — depending on factors such as region, operator network, and more. With Flussonic, you can now filter ad insertion markers by Program ID received during user authorization.

This new feature enables you to insert midroll ads only for users whose Program ID matches the marker’s ID received from the authorization backend. Markers will be skipped if the Program IDs do not match. This ensures that your ads are shown precisely to the intended audience.

Transition to BuyDRM CPIX API

For BuyDRM users, we’ve added support for the new CPIX API as the older KMS API will soon be retired. Now you can continue using Flussonic Media Server with BuyDRM, ensuring reliable content protection. To configure the new API, refer to our setup guide.

Control stream structure to produce a stable output signal

We’ve added the ability to modify stream input_media_info, including the PID. This solves common challenges when working with streams from diverse sources where there may be mismatches in Program IDs, naming errors, or subtitle issues. Now you can easily rename and organize incoming streams, greatly simplifying the management of hundreds of sources.

Support for Lutra Transcoders

Our new hardware transcoding modules, Lutra, in U2 form factor, allow for a reduction in hardware density needed for video processing and analytics. We have tested Lutra boards with both software and hardware setups, and Flussonic now supports these modules.

Optimized SRT Source Handling

With support for DROPREQ and improved performance, you can now process more streams simultaneously. We’ve also corrected tags for listener mode, so retransmitted packets are accurately marked as Retransmitted, rather than Original.

Experimental NMOS Support for ST2110 Sources

To receive SMPTE 2110 sources, NMOS is required as a network configurator, enabling device connection for stream reception and synchronization of video, audio, and other data streams.

We’ve added experimental NMOS configuration in Flussonic Media Server. This feature is intended for testing purposes — allowing you to explore the new standard with minimal setup and only the media server at hand.

Upgraded to Erlang 27.1

Our service core is built on Erlang, and we regularly update it to maintain the stability of the media server. Version 27.1 was released in September, and we have promptly added support for it to enhance security and compatibility with new language features.

Improvements for DekTec SDI

Now, in cases of errors in the transmitted stream, the system checks for dropped frames to prevent pusher restarts and streaming delays. This means that even with source issues, you still get stable and smooth playback.

Clearer USB Key Error Messages

For clients using USB licensing, if the activation.txt file isn’t updated during Flussonic upgrades, the admin interface previously showed an unclear error message. Now, if the key does not match the license, clients receive a relevant message, making it clear that they need to load the correct file for activation.

TLS 1.3 Support for Enhanced Data Security

Flussonic Media Server now supports TLS 1.3 to provide encryption, authentication, and data integrity for transmitted data, enhancing the security of all connections.
