Update Watcher VMS to Maintain iOS App Access
In April, we’re releasing a new version of the Flussonic Watcher iOS application. This marks the first major update in several years, featuring a complete system redesign and expanded functionality.
Important note: The new iOS app requires Watcher server version 25.02 or later. Systems running older versions will lose camera access after the update.
Why This Mobile App Update Matters
While Watcher has seen over 30 server releases in the past three years, the mobile app remained unchanged. The legacy architecture couldn’t support newer Watcher features or accommodate modern improvements. As the app aged, users experienced increasing performance issues.
A dedicated development team has been rebuilding the app since last year, implementing architectural improvements and laying the foundation for future updates. This April release begins our ongoing commitment to delivering a competitive, high-quality mobile experience.
Server Update Instructions
You can check your current Watcher version in the web interface’s lower-left corner.
To update your server:
- Follow the update guide in our documentation
- Create backups of:
- Configuration files in
/etc/flussonic
- Database files in
/opt/flussonic/priv
- Configuration files in

Mobile App Update Process
iOS devices will automatically notify users about the update or install it silently. We anticipate most users will transition to the new version by late April.
For white-labeled apps (custom-branded versions):
- Updates will only appear in the App Store after you request them
User Communication Recommendations
The updated app will require users to reauthenticate by entering their:
- Operator ID
- Username
- Password
We recommend informing users where to find these credentials and providing password recovery instructions.
