Flussonic Watcher documentation

Cluster Creation

Flussonic Watcher works in a cluster mode as a service. The cluster mode requires at least two servers to operate.

The server configuration in this case is the following:

  • The control server (endpoint). It has Watcher installed and PostgreSQL database.
  • Stream servers (streamers). A streamer is a server machine that has Flussonic Media Server installed. It stores the archives and camera streams. You can have from from 1 to 40 servers in this configuration.

Create a cluster Anchor Anchor x2

Log in as administrator, then go to SettingsStreamersEdit. This settings page is essential for the entire system, and here you can create a cluster. Add at least one stream server to make cameras function.

Prior to adding a new streamer in the Watcher settings, install Flussonic Media Server on a separate server with an external IP-address. Also, enter cluster_key that matches the Watcher key.

When the camera server is ready to go, create a new streamer in SettingsStreamersEdit, and then fill out the New streamer:

  • Hostname — Streamer’s URL. (e.g., http://192.168.1.2:8080, or a domain name).
  • Cluster key — Cluster key. If the streamer’s and Watcher cluster keys are the same, there is no need to fill this field.
  • The path to the archive — It is important to fill in this field, otherwise the archive will not work (e.g., /dvr).

When you have multiple streamers, you can select a default one. Click on the streamer from the list and click Set as default. In this case, all new cameras will be added in the default stream server.

Note: In this section, you don’t need to add a host that has Watcher deployed.
